We recently reported that the first stage of test firing of our new Browning-type .50 BMG large-calibre machine gun had finally taken place. This product is the result of joint work between AKM Group-CZ gunsmiths and our manufacturing partners as part of the ‘Production Ramp-Up Programme’.
Recall that at the end of 2024, AKM Group-CZ formed and approved a “Ramp-up Production Programme” that includes several areas of weapons and ammunition production. Serial production of Browning .50 BMG large-calibre machine guns is one of these areas.
Today, we tell you more about the technical characteristics, design solutions and combat capabilities of this weapon.
The Browning .50 BMG large-calibre machine gun
is designed for effective fire damage to manpower, equipment, lightly armoured targets, as well as low-altitude airborne objects. An important feature is its Quick Change Barrel system, which allows the combat unit to continue firing at the same rate even after the main barrel has overheated.
The bullet’s initial velocity is 890 m/s, which ensures high penetration and effectiveness even at considerable distances – over 1950 metres. The rate of fire reaches 450-550 rounds per minute, depending on the mode, which ensures sufficient firepower and reliability of the weapon even during prolonged bursts.
The effective range is 1,950 metres, and the maximum range is up to 6,500 metres.

Now the final tests of the Browning .50 BMG large-calibre machine gun are underway. They are testing it under different loads, from different firing positions, with different cartridge belt lengths, single shots and automatic fire, as well as in different operating conditions that are as close as possible to combat conditions.
Next, this model will be certified and codified in accordance with NATO standards and will receive a NATO STOCK NUMBER, which will allow active sales to begin.
There is already a buyer for the first batch of these weapons, and tests of these machine guns are expected to take place soon at the end user’s training ground.
