80,000 visitors were recorded by the organisers of IDEX 2013, which was held from 17 to 21 February in Abu Dhabi. It is the largest defence and homeland security event in the MENA region. This year, about 1000 international manufacturers and suppliers demonstrated the latest defence technologies, systems and equipment. Many unmanned systems and the latest naval technologies were presented.
There were also interesting developments from the German company Rheinmetall – 40 mm grenade launchers, which were equipped with fire control systems to improve accuracy, designed both for portable versions and for installation on vehicles. French company Verney-Carron Defence also presented a wide range of products, including the VCS series of grenade launchers.
